We could not have received a warmer welcome at Villa Creek from these guys!

The tasting room is nestled in the 60 acre Maha® Estate that straddles the Adelaide & Willow Creek Districts of Paso Robles. It’s a family owned and operated winery with its share of Turkish Boz dogs, dog dogs, pigs, goats, and chickens all contributing to the sustainability of the estate.

Camille Cherry hosted us pouring their 2023 Roussanne as the first wine. Such an interesting label and a lovely wine! The grapes are a combination of estate fruit and James Berry Vineyard producing a 100% Roussanne.

The winery produces wines under two labels – Villa Creek and MAHA Estate Wines. For this tasting we were trying five of the Villa Creek wines. The Garnacha, a 100% Grenache was outstanding, but the wine blends were my favorites with the Avenger topping the list.

The estate vineyards are biodynamically farmed and Regenerative Organic® – tough achievements to earn. The Rhone varietals seem to be thriving under this holistic approach to farming. The final products, with the assistance of owner Cris Cherry and winemaker Oliver Mikkelsen, just sing!
