Los Olivos – Los Alamos……..

Los Olivos and Los Alamos are quite possibly my favorite small towns to visit outside of Paso Robles in Central California. They are 15 minutes apart making it doable to plan a wonderful trip around the wineries and incredible restaurants in just these two towns.

Los Alamos is on a redevelopment roll with old structures under renovation and new infill popping up. The town has attracted a number of exceptional chefs and a fantastic baker. Bell’s is a standout dining choice and breakfast from Bob’s Well Bread Bakery is a must. One of our favorite tasting rooms in Los Alamos is Clementine Carter.

Los Olivos has been a thriving wine tasting destination for sometime. Today the number of tasting rooms has grown to nearly 50 in walking distance to the town’s center. On our most recent trip there we tried Storm Wines.

Storm’s tasting room is in an old house with inside, porch, and patio tasting spaces. They are known for their Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. We sat out on the porch, enjoying the warm weather and had an excellent tasting hosted by Amanda Sorensen.

We have previously posted about other tasting rooms in Los Olivos that you can check out. There are so many. You can do your homework and select wineries to try there or just wander the town and select a winery you have never tried before.

For an exceptional meal in Los Olivios Nella Kitchen & Bar is a perfect choice. If picnicking is your thing or you want pastries for breakfast the Los Olivos Grocery would be the place to find these items.

Lastly, there are plenty of interesting accommodations available in and around both of the towns. We especially enjoyed the retro motel Skyview Los Alamos. Smallish rooms but very well appointed.

Salud!
