In 2002 American animator, John Lasseter and wife Nancy purchased a 1894 winery property just outside Glen Ellen, California. Its now a 95 acre ranch / estate and includes acres of vineyards, the winery, wine production facility, tasting room, extensive gardens and a private residence.
I imagine with John Lasseter’s background the winery is yet another venue for him to have great fun with. It was certainly decked out creatively for Halloween when we visited.

Lisa Northey was our host guiding us through a tour of the Lasseter Family Winery and their wines.

The vineyards are organically farmed and the winery is gorgeously landscaped. Included around the property are a number of cork oak trees that grow well in this part of California but are rarely seen here.

We tasted the wines as we walked through the winery and production facility. Each wine was paired with a bite of food. Voila, a white blend, was paired with Cypress Grove’s Lambchopper sheep’s milk cheese. It was a hit!

The final tasting was a pairing of wine and chocolate. Lasseter has a chocolate expressly created for them by Wine Country Chocolates – a chocolatier that has become one of our favorites!

We left armed with bottles. The 2016 Voila, the 2014 Chemin de Fer, the 2013 Amoureux, and the 2017 L’Ame du Sage are headed to our cellar!
Thank you Lisa for a terrific tasting!
Salud!
