There are special, very special wines out there. The 2007 Abreu Vineyard Madrona Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is one of them. The Madrona Ranch Vineyard is in St. Helena, California and they produce wines with a magical blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of sharing not only the Madrona Ranch but a bottle of Sine Qua Non 2009 Turn the Whole Thing Upside Down Grenache with great friends over an amazing dinner at Sarasota’s Pomona Bistro. Sine Qua Non is a “Rhone Ranger” in Ventura, California. A trip to their website will explain why they are not your traditional winery. They grow unusual varieties of grapes that obviously add to the sensational wines they are able to produce.
WOW! REALLY WOW! These wines were unbelievably smooth, full of luscious character and oh my how I wish I could have had more! As you might have guessed, these two selections are not exactly priced for everyday consumption or even most special occasions we celebrate.
If you want something very, very special though you won’t be disappointed by either of these. Just promise me you will pair the wine with an excellent dinner to enjoy it fully.
Our evening was, without question, over-the-top indulgent – never to be forgotten!
Thank you Barry and Tami!
Thank you for the tip. I usually do not spend this much for a nice wine but there are special occasions that merit such actions. I may approach Marta for an upcoming birthday present: SINE QUA NON !!!!!!!!!!
Hugs to both of you, Francis.
