When we find a great restaurant we’re torn between wanting to tell the world and keeping it secret. That’s how we felt when we tried Goldfinch in Sebastopol, California. We’ve dined their twice. Great food, excellent cocktails, a nice wine list, smart wait staff, busy but not loud so you are able to enjoy the conversation at your table.

On our second visit, our wait staff recommended a Spanish rosé wine to start off with. Delicious, with a bit of spritz to it. It’s from a family winery in the Basque region of Spain. A wonderful find for this time of year. Writing about restaurants is not really my thing but I wanted to introduce you to this great wine, the 2022 Ameztoi Rubentis and it seemed a logical way to tell you how we got it. Hopefully you can find some to try.
Carrying on with food and wine – One of Santa Rosa’s best pizza restaurants, Rosso has “Winemaker Wednesdays” throughout the summer. We were there last week when Matt Duffy from Vaughn Duffy Wines was pouring his wines. The 2019 Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley was our favorite. It was such a terrific match with our pizza.

It was especially nice to meet Matt and hear briefly about his wine making. Matt and Sara source their grapes to create their wines and they are certainly doing something right. Awards are stacking up for their vintages. They have a tasting room in Kenwood, CA we’ve been by many times. Now, we have to plan to visit.
Salud!
