Rhone Rangers is America’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to promoting American Rhone varietal wines. They hold a number of events throughout the year.

We headed to Sonoma for an afternoon wine tasting on the lawn at Cline Family Cellars with 30 Rhone Rangers from Sonoma, Napa, Lodi, El Dorado, Monterey County, Paso Robles, Santa Barbara County, Oregon, and Texas pouring their wines.

We tend to favor Rhone varietals so this was an especially fun event for us to get to try some new wineries and get reacquainted with some old favorites. Several of the wineries we found had interesting varietals to taste were Lava Cap, Lindquist, Winery Sixteen 600, Grenachista Wine co., Cass, and Tercero.

Alta Colina from the Paso area and Ridge are old favorites we enjoyed too.
This is not the best way to seriously taste wines, but events like this give you some idea of which wineries are producing wines that you favor; then you can make plans to visit their winery or purchase a bottle.
In fact, just a week ago we visited one of the wineries – Sixteen 600. More to come about them!
Salud!
