If you’re lucky enough to live in the area, events at Grand Cru Custom Crush are not to be missed. After attending their well-done event in June of 2019 I made sure to keep track of future events they were scheduling.
Grand Cru is a crush facility in Windsor, California. 20 or more family wineries share the facility for the production and tasting of their wines. They’re generally small producers, whose wine is difficult to to come by at retail or in restaurants.
Their 2021 Summer Open House included 15 wineries pouring three or more wines and a handful of food vendors offering among other things cheeses, honey, fresh produce and meats. Lunch was available from Dino’s Greek food truck and great ice cream from Two Dog Night.
The event was extremely well manged and at a ticket price of $20 it is a bargain.
The wineries that were pouring were Alma Fria, Black Kite, Bruliam, Bucher, Bydand, Cormorant, Domaine de la Rivière, Edaphos, Ernest, Flambeaux, Gros Ventre, Hard Six, Maritana, Mueller, Stringer, and Terminim.
We couldn’t resist taking home a few wines that we found especially outstanding……..
- Flambeaux’s 2019 Rosé, 2018 Dry Creek Zinfandel and 2017 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
- Bruliiam’s 2018 Torrey Hill Vineyard
- Edaphos’s 2018 Steel Plow Vineyard Grenache
If you can’t make one of their events, Grand Cru is open year round for tastings by appointment. They also have wines available in their Bottle Shop for pick up.
Salud!
