Looking for something different to experience in Sonoma’s Wine Country?
Just outside of Healdsburg, tucked away on a country road in the Alexander Valley there is a coffee roaster. Hand roasted, small batch coffee is made here that has quickly gained popularity in Sonoma County.
We had been hearing and reading great reviews of the coffee and of the the tasting experience so we arranged an appointment to taste over the holidays.
Wolf Coffee is a 30 year old company that changed it’s course from bricks and mortar outlets to grocery and online sales.
You walk into Wolf Coffee and the smell, well the smell is so fantastic to a coffee lover! We were met by owner Nick Castelli, an extremely detailed, organized man who has taken on reinvigorating and preserving this family business. From the start you know this man loves what he is doing.

I’m not going to give away the steps the tasting goes through. That’s the fun of doing it….. but that’s not all you’ll experience. Nick walks you through the process of roasting as you take in the massive vintage roaster and it’s smaller brother – an antique that he has “tech’d up.” It’s fascinating to see and amazing to learn how he has made every bi-product of the process useful in some form or fashion so the business is environmentally sustainable.
As well as creating some very fine coffee blends, Nick is finding creative ways to collaborate with other businesses in the community – Volo Chocolates and Alley 6 to name two.
There is no formal process set for tasting as yet, but a phone call or email to Nick is the best way to arrange for one. Nick Castelli, President – Wolf Coffee Company – (707) 431-9090
